First Unit Camp

The first unit camp, where I met everyone for the first time, took place in a village called Kimbolton in West Cambridgeshire. When I arrived on Friday night we did an ice breaker activity then got sorted into our patrols for the jamboree. Then we did a trivia quiz and chatted and got to know our patrol (then we had cake and custard😋) .

The next day we had breakfast and did some unit identity work. Through the rest of the camp we managed to choose our Unit and patrol names and also our badge design and our Necker and hoodie colours.

We then got given a budget of £15 to cook a meal for our patrol by all working together my group. In the end, we decided to make vegetable and chicken/veggie sausages in a pitta bread then either marshmallows or chocolate for pudding.

In the afternoon we did a navigation hunt around Kimbolton and did some more unit identity work and started our fundraising ideas as a whole unit. Then it was jacket potatoes and a quick pit stop to the local shop for treats. We settled down to watch ‘Fantastic Beasts and where to find them’ before bed.

On the last day we did a powerpoint to send out to companies when we were asking for funding to explain what we were doing. We then did a tik tok video explaining either about the WSJ or scouting. Then we had lunch got packed up and were very excited to get our first jamboree badges before we left!
